Wheely good business

By Kath Gannaway
A NEW Mobile Business Centre will take business mentors on the road to help small business operators across the state.
The bus was launched at Tarrawarra Museum of Art by Small Business Minister Joe Helper on Thursday.
Mr Helper said the initiative was about ensuring all Victorian businesses were able to take advantage of an upturn in economic conditions.
The MBC, fitted out with an internet-enabled laptop and a mentoring room is essentially a mobile consulting room. It will visit regional and council interface centres including those affected by the 2009 bushfires, over the next 12 months.
“Our research has shown that the 150,000 small businesses located in regional Victoria often face difficulties accessing reliable information to help them make the best decisions about starting, operating and growing a business.
“So the Brumby Labor Government’s Mobile Business Centre will help to fill the information gap, by travelling to regional Victoria to provide services that meet the needs of small business,” Mr Helper said. Details of the MBC itinerary are to be relased.
