THE Monbulk Women’s Kookaburras drew 0-0 with the Knox Strikers in the first round of the Gwen Wright Shield.
Player of the match was Carlie Turpin, but she was well supported by Karen Job, Lauren Millard and Nina Schuette.
This team is developing well and should secure its first win soon.
The under-10 Hawks were defeated by Knox Force 0-3. A muddy pitch saw plenty of slips and missed kicks by both teams as they all fought to stay on their feet, but Knox Force held on to remain undefeated.
Player of the match was Will Thomas for his great work defending the goals.
The Monbulk men’s Forest side played a cup match against Eastern, winning 3-1.
The game started at a frenetic pace and the defence was put under pressure early.
In the second half, the Forest dominated possession resulting in a goal from Nas Bahar. Two more goals from Dean Bullock sealed victory.
Monbulk men’s Arrows defeated Eltham Eagles 1-0 in a cup match.
Despite the Arrows dominating the first half, the score was 0-0 at half-time. A superb shot by Joshua Newman guaranteed the Arrows a win in a highly contested game.
The under-15 Gunners played against the top team in Berwick and lost 1-3.
The Gunners are yet to win a game but played a great match to keep Berwick to 3 goals.
Player of the match was Jayden Allan who scored an excellent goal and played well as goalkeeper in the second half.
The Monbulk Rangers Women’s Seniors drew with the Ballarat Lady Devils 1-1.
An early goal from Michelle de Boer, assisted by a cross from Nicky Cranston, got the Seniors off to a good start.
An unfortunate own goal levelled the score despite increased opportunities up front. Player of the match was Angie de Boer.
The under-18 Pythons remain undefeated after beating Whitehorse United 8-1.
Goalscorers were Joshua Newman, Jacco Kerstens, Adam Nicholas, Patrick O’Loughlin and Lachie Boyd.
James Hulbert worked hard in the midfield assisting with three goals. Coach Leo Webb has trained the Pythons hard to ensure they continue their winning streak.
