ADULT learning in Healesville has received a boost with UYCH Community College set to open its campus on the ground floor of the former National Bank building in the main street.
Upper Yarra Community House (UYCH) CEO Sally Brennan said that the organisation was excited about the opportunities that this would provide to the community of Healesville. She said that together with the Healesville Living and Learning Centre they would provide a broad suite of education and training programs designed to meet local community needs. Ms Brennan said the UYCH Community College had no intention of competing with the long established and highly respected Living and Learning Centre.
“Rather, we will be working together to ensure that program delivery to the community of Healesville is expanded and strengthened. There’s too much to be done for us to be competing against each other, and a great deal more is achieved when people work together”, she said.
An important component of UYCH Community College service delivery will be Youth Connections, a federally funded program for young people at risk of not completing their schooling.
UYCH Youth Access worker Rachel Higgins is now based full time in the building and will be offering this comprehensive service to young people and their families around successful school completion.

The UYCH In Home Care program is also based in the premises, continuing to offer services to older people who need support to remain in their homes.
Marg Cole is the coordinator of this program and can be contacted on 5962 3196.
