YARRA Glen and Seville put on a great game that went goal for goal for most of the day. The second quarter was a highlight with 13 goals, seven by Seville and six by Yarra Glen.
At half-time it was Yarra Glen by just eight points.
Both forward lines were in fine form with Yarra Glen’s Ryan Kueffer (seven) and Mark Attard (six) doing the damage while Seville’s Kane Jones was his side’s most damaging with seven.
Seville had a top third quarter with six goals while Yarra Glen managed three and at the last change it was Seville by eight points.
But Yarra Glen proved why it is top of the ladder with a great last quarter, booting five goals to Seville’s one to come away with a hard-fought 17-point win.

UPWEY set up its win over Healesville early with a six-goal-to-nil first quarter. Healesville did get three on the board in the second but Upwey stretched its lead by booting four for a seven-goal lead into half-time.
The second half was all Upwey as it took complete control. Its last quarter was outstanding with eight goals to Healesville’s one for a 104-point victory.

IN A great game only a couple of kicks separated Olinda and Warburton all day. Olinda did start the better and looked more polished with a five-goals-to-three first quarter but Warburton kicked into gear in the second, its six goals to three giving it a one-goal lead at half-time.
The second half produced great football with neither team giving an inch. Finally it was Olinda that clawed its way back to the lead at three-quarter-time but by only seven points.
The game was set for a great last quarter and it went for a record 43 minutes. Olinda kicked five goals to Warburton’s four for an 11-point win that showed it should again be a force to be reckoned with in the finals.

THE Monbulk-Wandin game was between two teams not in great form but it was Monbulk’s spirited opening that saw it hold sway by 15 points at the first change, despite Wandin showing some fight with three goals.
Neither side could get on top in the second and at the long break it was Monbulk by 19 points. The second half was scrappy affair but Monbulk never really looking in danger against a tiring Wandin, held scoreless in the last.

SILVAN stayed within striking distance of Woori until half-time when Woori led by 27 points.
But after that Woori put down its foot, leaving Silvan in its wake. It scored six goals to two in the third and eight to one in the last for its 103-point victory.

YEA held on to its finals chances with only percentage keeping them out of the five after its six-point win over Powelltown.
Powelltown led at the first change by 10 points and at the half by nine but it was in the third quarter that Yea set up its win with one of its best quarters for the year.
It kicked 6.4 to Powelltown’s 1.1 and at three-quarter-time it led by a handy four goals. Powelltown played one of its best quarters in the last, booting 7.3, but Yea’s 4.3 was enough to get it home.

YARRA Junction moved to third on the ladder with its win over Kinglake. Its Daniel Lever was nothing short of outstanding with nine of his side’s 14 goals.
The game was still in the balance at half-time with Junction leading by 14 points but it was Junction’s third term that put the game beyond doubt. It kicked only four goals but held Kinglake to just one behind and at three-quarter-time it was Junction by 40 points.
The last quarter was even with Junction outscoring Kinglake by one point for its best win of the season.
