THE atmosphere is comfortably grungie, warm and inviting. The food is home-made, varied and delicious.
They are the key elements of Healesville’s Mocha and Lime cafe, but step inside, and you get the full picture of why this family-run business, tucked around the corner in leafy Green Street is so popular with locals and visitors.
There’s great chatter, entertainment from time to time, the blended aromas of freshly brewed coffee and home-made pastries and cakes fresh from the ovens, and the glow of the wood-fired heater to keep the customers cosy.
The bookshop, comfy couches and the spacious lay-out add to the experience.
The Roberts family from Yellingbo, Kaz and Frank and daughter Heather, recently took over the cafe having gained broad experience as managers and owners of cafes and restaurants over the years.
They have retained the very best of what had been established as a popular meeting place and added their own stamp focusing on providing a quality menu from breakfast through to late afternoon.
The menu changes regularly to make the most of seasonal, local produce, there is a good range of gluten-free food, great direct trade coffee, local honeys and local organic teas, and a real treat – old-fashioned malted milks.
The wide footpath, shaded by Green Street’s magnificent trees, offers an opportunity, even on a sunny winter’s day, for relaxing alfresco dining.
Heather, Kaz and Frank also cater for private and corporate functions, both at the Mocha and Lime and at other venues. They can discuss your requirements and suggest a menu which will suit both your needs and your budget.
Mocha and Lime, at 11 Green Street, Healesville, is open from 8am to 4.30pm, Thursday through to Tuesday. Phone 5962 2288.
