HEALESVILLE CWA Nite Chicks are calling on Yarra Valley residents to rally behind a fun fund-raiser which, in turn, is rallying behind local businesses.
Rally Around the Valley, an unhurried car rally will start and end in Healesville on Saturday 11 September.
Event co-ordinator Stacey Jansen said the driver for the rally was to bring people together following the difficulties of the past 18 months.
“We decided to make this a fun and interactive event to bring people together and make them aware, or remind them, what is in our beautiful valley by organising a car rally around the valley,” Ms Jansen said.
“The rally is not a race, it’s a pleasant journey, with clues, through the valley taking in the many and varied businesses and what they provide to support and service the locals and tourists to the area,” she said.
Nite Chicks secretary Pat Sturdy said the event was aimed at all ages with a very affordable entry fee of just $10 a car, fun clues and challenges, and at last count, well over $1000 worth of prizes.
“As always, our local businesses have been tremendously generous and we are really looking forward to rewarding out rally entrants with lots of prizes on the day,” she said.
The rally will kick off from Coronation Park in River Street, Healesville, and finish at an undisclosed destination – but one, the Nite Chicks say, will be a great place to enjoy lunch and a bit of post-rally fun.
A sausage sizzle and drinks will be available.
There is no need to book, just turn up with a Melway – or high-tech equivalent, some petrol in your tank and a ‘let’s have fun’ attitude.
