WANDIN’S blacksmiths will this week forge friendships of steel over a medieval meal with Vikings, woodworkers and silversmiths.
Metalworkers from all over Australia will be at the sixth Australian Blacksmith Show at Mont De Lancey Historic Homestead.
The event also features medieval re-enactments, woodworkers, tin and silversmiths and other traditional crafts.
Mont De Lancey’s head blacksmith Oscar Huecherig said the group of 50 members enjoy keeping their craft alive by demonstrating and sharing their skills of forging with hammer and anvil.
“The weekend promotes friendship among us smithies and connects with the wood and medieval hobby groups as well as learning skills from each other,” he said.
Mr Huecherig said the smithies were able to craft garden furniture, ornaments, candelabras, gate names and even knick-knacks on request.
The Australian Blacksmith Show is on Saturday and Sunday at Mont De Lancey Historic Homestead, 71 Wellington Road, Wandin North, 3139. Inquiries on 5964 2088.
