YARRA Junction residents can monkey around with a free family expo highlighting Upper Yarra programs and services.
Ex-Collingwood footballer Damian ‘Monkey’ Monkhorst will speak about his experiences being a father.
Parenting author Pinky McKay will speak about toddlers and Anglicare’s parent resource officer Helena Laverie will speak about helping teenagers.
The event builds on the successful Elevate youth festival at Yarra Junction skate park, which ran during the school holidays.
Yarra Ranges councillor Chris Templer said families could pick up information from agencies and support groups in the Upper Yarra area.
“Our three speakers will also give talks on relevant parenting issues during the expo,” he said.
“And there will be show bags, giveaways and prizes.”
The Upper Yarra Family Centre offers a drop-in information and referral service from 9.30am to 1.30pm between Tuesday and Friday.
The expo will be held at the Upper Yarra Family Centre in Yarra Junction on Thursday 28 October from 6.30pm until 9.30pm and between 9.30am and 4pm the following day.
