PUDDLES, parties and phillies, The Yarra Valley and Dandenongs Food and Wine Race Day was a resounding success – despite the weather.
Yarra Glen Racing Club’s Brett Shambrook said although the weather started off “pretty ordinary” more than 5300 punters attended the day.
It was a great day for some more than others, with soon-to-be married Clint Bernhardt celebrating his bucks day at the races.
His friends even sponsored a race, naming it the Clint Bernhardt Last Hurrah.
Fashion on the Field was hotly contested and others enjoyed the tunes of live bands and enjoyed the delights of local producers.
“Crowd numbers were down from last year, but under weather circumstances it was a good showing,” Mr Shambrook said.
“Now we’re cleaning up and getting set for Melbourne Cup Day.”
