Rain thwarts play, yet again

By Keith Thompson
SATURDAY’S early play was halted thanks to morning rain, which immediately caused the cancellation of junior cricket.
An average of 20mm of rain fell across the valley with some areas receiving more than 25mm from late Friday evening until mid-morning on Saturday.
Ultimately, another round had to be cancelled because of unplayable conditions.
Cricketers are becoming increasingly frustrated with the weather. Friday was a clear and warm 29 degrees but he weather turned dramatically for match day.
The association has declared that one-day matches will now take place on 30 October and 6 November. Round three will be played on 30 October, followed by round four a week later.
Some clubs have found themselves short of numbers thanks to the recent lack of play. The association is encouraging all budding cricketers to drop in to their local club and provide much needed support.
Call the YVCA on 0408 353 076 for more information.
Two recent YVCA junior tour groups will meet at Knox Tavern today to plan tours for next year and beyond.
The association plans on taking two teams to the Malaysian KAF under-15 competition in July next year and an under-18 or under-19 team to Sri Lanka in 2012.
YVCA players and parents should again contact the association if interested in taking part in the trip.
An over-40’s tour has also been discussed and will be looked at closely over the next month.
