A WARBURTON youth, 16, will face more than 10 car theft charges after being arrested by police in Ballarat.
Senior Constable Ian Harris, of Yarra Junction Police, said the teenager was arrested in Ballarat after a pursuit by local police on 27 October.
Sen Const Harris said the charges related to several vehicles stolen in the Yarra Valley area and that the youth was picked up driving a vehicle stolen from the Yarra Valley.
Police also recovered a stolen quad bike and are looking for the owner.
Sen Const Harris said the youth told them the bike was stolen from the Yarra Junction area, but that he could not remember the exact location.
The charges will be heard at the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on 1 December.
Speeding warning
POLICE have issued a warning to motorists speeding on the Warburton Highway.
“In the past three days we have picked up four people doing about 20km over the speed limit,” Senior Constable Ian Harris, of Yarra Junction police, said.
“They lose three demerit points and have to pay a $239 fine,” he said.
“It’s an expensive hobby,.” he said.
