THE Marysville Marathon was run in spectacular fashion on Sunday 7 November.
Runners and their families enjoyed a great day out with more than 1500 official participants taking part in this year’s event.
Runners had a choice of competing in the marathon, half-marathon, 10km run/walk or 3km run/walk.
Tourism Minister Tim Holding ran the half marathon and then stayed and presented awards to all the winners.
Yarra Glen runner Paula Gill said it was a beautiful day for a run.
“The track went all the way up to the re-opened Stevenson’s Falls, where runners had their picture taken when they hit the peak, and then ran back down,” she said.
“It was amazing – people were running with prams, and other people had their dogs with them.”
Ms Gill said afterwards runners kicked back on the grassy oval and listened to live music.
“I can see it getting bigger and bigger every year,” she said.
Marysville Caravan Park manager Christine Adams said any event like this is always a good event for the community.
“It’s about bringing people back into Marysville and seeing how Marysville is growing,” she said.
