A NEW summer menu is a great excuse to head up to Toolangi Tavern.

Head chef, Daniel Treucker, has created a fabulous new menu with the warmer weather to come and fresh local produce as his inspiration.
Toolangi Tavern opened four years ago and has proved a popular drawcard for tourists who make their way up through Yarra Glen or Healesville to enjoy the country hospitality and the beautiful surroundings.
The menu is a-la-carte Australian cuisine featuring a good range of entrée, main and dessert options.
Building on the popular dishes – parmigiana, rump steak, home-made sausages and the famous Toolangi burger, as well as home-made pasta dishes – Daniel is introducing some tasty dishes such as trout salad, crisp pork belly and delicious mixed grill. Mains range from $15 to $29.50.
Entrees range from $6 to $15 and include cheesy garlic bread, dips, oysters, wedges and soup.
The New York cheesecake and Toolangi sundae with fresh, creamy ice-cream and local berries are a nice summer treat after a relaxing lunch or dinner.
Specials include the $15 menu which includes beer-battered fish and chips, roast, risotto, parmigiana and schnitzel, and there is a $10 children’s menu with chicken nuggets, roast, sausages, fish and chips and pasta.
Surrounded by the mountain ranges of Toolangi, and located on top of the hill in a garden setting, the environment is relaxed and inviting.
The dining room opens onto a large deck which takes in magnificent views and has a pool table and music.
Below there is an extensive grassed area where families can enjoy a game of cricket or simply enjoy the fresh air and ambience of the natural environment.
Toolangi Tavern will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, but owner Michelle Marshall said they are looking forward to a very busy pre-Christmas period with bookings already being taken for work, social and family Christmas functions.
“We can organise any type of function and are very happy to sit down and organise a menu from finger food through to a formal sit-down dinner, at a price that suits,” Michelle said.
