AN EXCITED group of young adults at Interchange Outer East have jetted off for a new experience in Italy.
The five young adults, volunteer Chrissie King and Interchange Outer East CEO Fred Brumhead will be joined by a group from Bayley House in Brighton.
They are visiting Milan as part of an exchange program between Melbourne and Milan, called MELMI, which aims to facilitate learning and cultural exchange between people with disabilities, their families and staff and volunteers involved in the disability field. The first visit of the exchange took place when a delegation from Milan visited Melbourne in March last year.
Mr Brumhead said it was exciting to be part of the exchange program.
“As the intention is for MELMI to be ongoing, I am particularly excited about the future opportunities it will open for all people involved with Interchange,” he said.
“We have already laid the foundations of firm relationships with our MELMI partners in Milan and I am certain these will continue to strengthen over the years.”
The young adults will learn about Italian culture and hospitality, history and sightseeing, not forgetting the food.
