Presenting the second grant of $20,000 to brigade members on Thursday, 7 April, RACV representative Lisa Chesson-Kistas said since the bushfires the RACV had become very much aware of the needs of fire brigades.
She said the organisation had worked with suppliers over the past five years to see what could be done to give back to communities and were especially pleased to now be able to help small brigades such as Badger Creek.
CFA District 13 representative Gavin Wright said while the CFA supported brigades with a base level of equipment, the brigades were so in touch with their communities they formed valuable partnerships and were able to get the extra things they needed in terms of equipment.
“That is where partnerships make such a difference in taking the brigades above that base level,” he said.
“We are happy this money will allow you to buy those things that will make a difference to your community and things you take a lot of pride in,” Ms Chesson-Kistas said.
She thanked the brigade members for their volunteer efforts.
“Thankyou; you all do an absolutely fabulous job and we are very proud to be associated with you,” she said.
Thanking the visiting RACV members and suppliers, acting captain Len Martin said the brigade was very grateful for such a generous gift and would look very carefully at how the money would best serve the brigade and the community.
