Cobras up and down

AFTER enjoying the Easter break, the Kilsyth Cobras and Lady Cobras were fresh and ready to take on their Frankston rivals.
But only the Lady Cobras got the desired result, with the Cobras going down in a disappointing display.
The Lady Cobras showed the Frankston Lady Blues their class, steamrolling them by 28 points.
With Cheryl Chambers in China on Australian Gem representative duties, assistant coach Peter Gay took the reins – keeping the team in capable hands.
The first quarter saw Kilsyth make the most of its opportunities, leading 18-11 going into quarter-time.
The second and third quarters saw a lack of defensive pressure from the Lady Cobras but Frankston failed to capitalise, falling further behind by the end of the third, 47-37. The last quarter saw Kilsyth flex its muscles, outscoring Frankston 28-10.
It has been a disappointing start to the year for the Cobras, now sitting at 1-5 from their first six games. Their poor form continued against Frankston, going down 75-57.
The Cobras put in a solid defensive effort in the second and third quarters, but it wasn’t enough to undo their awful start in the first period.
Kilsyth’s inability to make baskets ensured Frankston was never going to be troubled.
The Lady Cobras’ next game is against Nunawading on 7 May at 6.30pm at Nunawading Basketball Stadium.
The Cobras’ next match-up will see them travel to Canberra also on 7 May.
