IT WAS Healesville’s first youth girls football game and it came away with a win. Most of the team had never played competition football before and in just two months of training improved enough to come up with a win in their first game. Toughness and hard-ball attitude were the key.

UNDER 16
HEALESVILLE put a great score on the board early before Yarra Glen fought back in the second quarter but Healesville ran the ball quickly and out of defence to the strong targets up forward to register the win.

AT FIRST Healesville went well, keeping the ball in their forward line. Forward tackling was good but the team was unable to convert. As the game went on Healesville outplayed the opposition and went on to a 10-goal win.

THE team started with strong, fair football and was only three points behind at three-quarter-time. But it lost its puff in the last quarter and Upwey ran away winners.

A SLOW start to the game saw Yarra Glen in the lead, but Healesville picked up with an excellent fightback in the final quarter.
