Warm and fuzzy- Learn about the benefits and beauty of Alpacas at Juenric Alpacas. 63738

DURING May alpaca farms throughout Australia will be welcoming visitors to meet these wonderful animals.
June and Richard Bowden of Juenric Alpacas will be opening their gates on Saturday and Sunday 7 and 8 May, 14 and 15 May and 21 and 22 May, between 11am and 4pm.
Richard said that once anyone has seen one of these intelligent, gentle and beautiful animals they will fall in love with them.
With environmental damage an issue in Australia, June pointed out that the alpaca is an environmentally friendly animal with its soft padded feet it does not damage our fragile soils.
Added to this, alpaca fleece is soft and luxurious and can be made into warm, prickle-free lightweight garments.
Alpaca fleece comes in 22 natural colours which makes it ideal for the home spinner and knitter who does not want to use dyed fibre.
Many shops across Australia stock garments made from alpaca fibre ranging from scarves to coats and also homewares such as throws, quilts and even carpets.
Not only does an alpaca produce such sought after fleece but it is also in demand as protectors of sheep, goats and even poultry.
A wether (a castrated male) once bonded with the herd it is to protect will keep off predators such as foxes.
For those with small acreages a couple of wethers are ideal lawnmowers and will keep the grass in check.
Juenric Alpacas offer guided tours at its 62 Allsops Road farm, in Woori Yallock, for visitors to see the alpacas close up, learn about spinning alpaca fibre and see the wonderful range of garments made from alpaca fibre.
