The perfect mix

By Kath Gannaway
THERE is something about winter, the charm of an historic 1920s inn and choral music that just fits.
In Marysville on Sunday, 19 June, all those elements will come together beautifully when The Tudor Choristers present ‘Grainger and Friends” at Crossways Country Inn.
The group was founded in 1962 and has flourished to become one of Victoria’s pre-eminent choirs, specialising in unaccompanied music.
Under the musical directorship of Andrew Blackburn, The Tudor Choristers will perform songs by Australian-born composer, arranger and pianist, Percy Grainger, including Londonderry Air, Irish Tunes From County Derry and Brigg Fair.
The performance will also include music of Grainger’s contemporaries, Edvard Grieg, Vaughan Williams and Gustav Holst, who also made use of folk melodies in their music.
The Marysville concert is a special afternoon performance prior to the choir’s performance at the Melbourne Recital Centre.
The concert is at 2.30pm and tickets are $25 for adults and $20 concession.
To book phone 5963 3290.
