THE CONCERT will be screened at the Upper Yarra Arts Centre this month.
It will be the seventh film shown as part of the Yarra Valley Film Society’s 12-month program.
The French/Russian film is a variety of comedy, drama and music made in 2009.
A former conductor of the Bolshoi Orchestra, who was fired for using Jewish musicians, brings the old players together to impersonate the real orchestra on a trip to Paris.
Although the premise lacks credibility, Radu Milaileanu’s joyous film is a real crowd pleaser.
The Upper Yarra Arts Centre will show The Concert at 7.30pm on Tuesday 12 July. Guests can see the film for a one-off price (11 films for $60) or join the society to be included in discussion sessions after the films.
