“WHERE exactly is Glen Valley?” is one question Kathy and Kelvin Blumson won’t have to answer after this week.
Glen Valley Produce has earned the right to have its location included in its name. The business that has served the Yarra Valley community for more than 20 years, has now been re-named Yarra Glen Stock Feeds.
Apart from a face-lift to their Armstrong Grove store, the name-change is the only change to the business, which prides itself on good old-fashioned service.
“It’s more user friendly … and hopefully it will make us a lot more identifiable,” said Kathy, who took over the business two years ago.
The store is packed to the rafters with all the different foods that animal owners need to keep their pets and livestock in peak condition.
No matter what your furry, feathery or fleecy friend is – dog, cat, cow, sheep, alpaca, mouse, chook, pig, goat, canary, parrot … or a horse – Yarra Glen Stock Feeds can cater for it.
The Blumson family has been involved with horses for around 30 years, and had a considerable involvement with sheep and cattle, as well as other family pets.
With team member Andrew Davies, who has been with the business for more than 20 years, there is a huge reservoir of experience and knowledge available to customers.
“We are always happy to advise on the various aspects of animal care,” she said. Quality is a top priority and everyone at Yarra Glen Stock Feeds is vigilant in ensuring whatever they sell is up to standard.
Dog and cat owners will find a good selection of foods, including Eukanuba and the new holistic Artemis.
Barf Pet mince is also a new product that is proving very popular. There is also a range of dog accessories.
Poultry are also well catered for at Yarra Glen Stock Feeds, with a huge range of food, including organic.
There are feed and water containers galore, and you can even buy your chook pen.
Yarra Glen Stock Feeds is the drop-off point for horse rug repairs and cleaning.
Kathy does the rug repairs herself so offers a very personal service.
The store also has a large range of horse supplements and accessories.
Deliveries are the stores specialty, covering the Yarra Valley and beyond, to include Healesville, Kinglake, Glenburn, Yarra Junction, Lilydale and Christmas Hills.
Delivery is free on orders over $150, with a $5 fee applicable on other orders.
Yarra Glen Stock Feeds have supplies for all animals and you never know what else you might find there.
They are located opposite Yarra Valley Racing Centre. Phone 9730 1729.
