COMMUNITY is the cornerstone of what has driven hundreds of Healesville Lions during the past 50 years.
Their community focus can be seen throughout the year with their Christmas cakes, Christmas windows and carols by candlelight, the great service their senior citizens’ hall provides for many and varied groups, their community barbecues and the recent collaboration with St Brigid’s Primary School reviving an old Lions project of a coin line in the main street.
They have contributed to local schools and kindergartens, HICCI, the SES, CFA and ambulance, sporting clubs, scouts, guides and support numerous health and disaster programs – fire, flood and drought – locally and internationally. Their fundraising includes their main street opportunity shop, Lions mints, hire of their hall and their soft-toy lucky envelopes. The Lions Club of Healesville needs volunteers.
This year is not only a celebration of 50 years of achievement, it’s a time to build for the future.
