THE Yarra Junction Football Netball Club was all smiles last Thursday night when taking out the Blood Oath campaign for country clubs, and receiving a $30,000 cheque for their efforts.
Led by Stacey Cooper and Gerard Healy, the team focused on homes around the Lilydale and Mooroolbark areas, where they door knocked hundreds of houses as well as camping in fast food outlets urging people to take the oath.
The YJ Facebook page was also alive with motivation and enthusiasm in the final stages of the campaign, inviting club members’ friends and families to get involved.
It wasn’t all about winning for the club though, which wanted to encourage everyone to protect their mates in the car and put safety first when driving.
The club has no plans for how the money will be spent, but said it would give the club a level of financial security that it hasn’t had for a while.
