THE precipitation has been all over the place according to the Mail’s rainfall reporters in Warburton, Healesville and Hoddles Creek.
Keith Thomas recorded 91.5mm, slightly below average for July against 117.9mm average.
Mr Thomas says, however, for the first seven months Warburton is still ahead of average receiving 882mm against the average of 694.3mm.
In Hoddles Creek Doug Armstrong recorded 133mm against the 2010 tally of 83mm, and his January to July figures show an overall improvement with 1058mm for 2011 against 595mm for 2010 … a substantial increase of 463mm.
Alma Mitchell in Healesville recorded 105.8mm in July over 27 days compared with 53.8mm last year over 29 days.
At the end of July Melbourne’s storage dams were holding 1,072,370m.ltr which equates to 59.2 per cent of capacity. At this time last year they held 36 per cent and 27 per cent the previous year.
For dam watchers, the Maroondah Dam spillway is continuing to provide a waterfall spectacular and on Saturday 20 August will have been overflowing for a whole year!
