MOUNT Evelyn travelled to Monbulk and got off to a flying start, kicking the first two goals of the division one seniors match. But everything, including their finals hopes, went downhill from there.
Monbulk destroyed the visitors, kicking the next seven goals for an insurmountable lead.
Olinda Ferny Creek v Gembrook Cockatoo
Olinda Ferny Creek has been one of the competition’s highest scoring sides this season, but also one of the most inaccurate.
That inaccuracy bit the side hard against Gembrook, which made the home side pay.
Gembrook capitalised on every mistake Olinda made, going on to record an impressive win – and keeping its finals hopes well and truly alive.
Upwey Tecoma v Warburton Millgrove
Warburton Millgrove was sitting outside the top five heading into its game against Upwey. But a fantastic win has ensured it will now get a sniff of September action.
Warburton started the match off well, kicking four goals to one and setting the tone for the rest of the game. Upwey simply couldn’t keep up or match Warburton’s extreme pressure.

Olinda Ferny Creek v Gembrook Cockatoo
Olinda was unlucky to walk away from its encounter with Gembrook without the four points, after each side’s inaccuracy in front of goal kept the match in the balance.

Belgrave v Seville
Seville travelled to Belgrave and was on the back foot early on, as the home side came out firing.
But Seville got its act together in the second term, keeping Belgrave to just one goal for the quarter.
Belgrave finished the match strongly but still couldn’t peg back Seville’s comfortable margin.
Emerald v Yarra Junction
Emerald played host to Yarra Junction, and although the score was close during the opening quarter, the visitors had a game they’d rather forget.
They were kept goalless for an entire half while Emerald dominated. The home side had more than triple the shots Yarra Junction had on goal.
