Our Betty is

THERE will be some stories to tell when Warburton ex-pat Irene Lynch celebrates her 90th birthday on Sunday.
Mrs Lynch, best known as Betty, has moved to Kilsyth, but she has a life-time of friends her family would like to share the celebration with.
The little Saunders girl was born at Nurse Butcher’s and shortly after taken home to the Mississippi Stables sawmill settlement.
The settlement was burnt out in the 1926 fires and the family moved to Big Pats Creek.
The young Miss Saunders was 18 when the ’39 fires went through. She met her husband-to-be at dancing lessons for the Yarra Rovers Football Club and they raised their family in Warburton.
So, with Mrs Lynch still “well and fiercely independent” according to son Terry, there is lots to catch up on. The family is having an afternoon tea to celebrate 90 wonderful years and would like family and friends to join them.
Phone Terry on 5155 1096 for details.
