ORGANISERS of the 2011 Music at the Healesville Track will officially launch the festival this month and have announced Joe Camilleri and The Black Sorrows as their headline act for the festival.
The festival, run by the Healesville Amateur Race Club Committee at the picturesque Healesville race track, will be held this year on Sunday 20 November from noon to around 8pm.
Joe has fronted two of Australia’s greatest bands, Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons and also The Black Sorrows and is an exciting drawcard for the event which brings together an eclectic collection of talented artists, and great local food, wine and beer.
Joining Joe on the 2011 program are Shane Howard and his band, Mick Thomas and The Roving Commission, Rebecca Barnard Trio, John Schumann (of Redgum Fame) and The Vagabond Crew, Monique Brumby and her band, Damian Howard and The Ploughboys, Greg Champion, Ewan Cloonan Band, The KV Band with festival director Chris Young promising more attractions to be announced over the next month or so.
Chris is excited with the program he said would deliver eight hours of non-stop music from two stages and provide a value-for-money community event.
There will also be heaps of activities to keep the kids entertained, which makes Music at the Healesville Track a great family festival.
And, ticket prices will again be kept low, and while BYO food is allowed, there will be plenty of food and beverages available on site at affordable prices. No alcohol can be brought into the festival site however. The festival is run by dedicated volunteers and all profits from the day go back in to the race club, to assist with its many community projects.
Chris said a lot of work had been put in to get the festival to the stage where everyone involved is looking forward to the launch at Grind N Groove on Friday 16 September, and to the big day.
“To manage to get artists of this calibre, all together at one community event, in our own backyard for a paltry entrance fee … and in one of the most beautiful settings you would find in the Yarra Valley, together with great drink and food … yeah! I’m bloody excited,” he said last week..
“November 20th, I reckon can’t come ’round quick enough!”
