Walter shines with bat and ball

By Steve Utting
THREE senior and three junior teams all played one-day games as Monbulk Cricket Club’s new season opened. Three other sides all begin in the coming weeks.
The Monbulk A-graders and under-17s both had standout first-up wins to kick off their seasons in style. Blake Walter was adjudged the First XI’s Man of the Match for taking 3/28, then backing it up with 74 not out after opening his side’s innings against Upper Ferntree Gully.
Brodie Emmett was named junior Man of the Match, scoring an unbeaten half-century in the under-17s’ win and backing that up with 28 for the A-grade side.
