YARRA Valley Racing has a winning double lined up for the 2011 Spring Racing Carnival.
The racing will be twice as spectacular at the Yarra Glen track starting with the club’s biggest meeting on Melbourne Cup Day, followed by Oaks Day.
It’s the first year the YVR has hosted an Oaks Day meeting and fashion will be a big part of both days.
“Fashions on the Field is almost as well known at Yarra Valley Racing on Cup Day, as the day itself and 2011 is going to be bigger and better than ever,” said YVRC chief executive Brett Shambrook.
Over many years, the first Tuesday in November has gained a reputation for fashion with a penchant for drama. It is the day for patrons to make their strongest fashion statement with an exotic ensemble.
Mr Shambrook said sponsors of Yarra Valley Racing had been very generous this year with prizes including an exclusive 12 month modelling contract and photo shoot with Cinema Models to the value of $3,000 for the winner on Cup Day.
De Bortoli Wines, Flowers by Deb O’Neill, Nine Grange Hair and Beauty, Natskin, Divine Escape Accommodation, Diva for a Day and Yarra Valley Food Group will also provide just some of the wonderful prizes.
The men are not forgotten either.
“There is also a Best Male category, so boys, don’t be shy,” Mr Shambrook said.
He added that while Melbourne Cup was YVR’s biggest event of the year, attracting up to 12,000 people.
He said the club was proud to introduce Oaks Day to the valley.
“Oaks Day is promising to be a great addition to our spring racing calendar, providing attendees with the full Spring Carnival experience,” Mr Shambrook said.
“We encourage all ladies and gents to dress in their finest and join in the Oaks Day fashions with a chance to win some great prizes.”
There are five categories on both Melbourne Cup Day and Oaks Day – first, second and third places for Most Elegant Lady and Best Hat and Best Dressed Male.
Packages are available for Oaks Day and the first 100 people to phone 9730 1332 and book a package will win free admission tickets for Oaks Day.
