THE Yarra Valley Wine Program last month was hailed as a huge success, with almost 80 people attending the event.
Leading winemakers from various wineries in the region spoke to the guests from around the country, which included food and wine media, sommeliers and retailers, about different wines and ran taste testing sessions.
Master of Wines Andrew Caillard was the moderator for the master classes, held at Yering station and RACV Healesville Country Club, which focused on the region’s key varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz.
Guests tasted 73 wines from 37 wineries across the valley.
Wine Yarra Valley CEO Richard Howden said they received a lot of positive feedback from all attendees.
“From all the reports they gave us, they had a great time and learned a lot,” he said.
“The programs were set up to take them through the best of the Yarra Valley and what we do and I think we really got the message across. It was all in all a very successful event.”
The Yarra Valley Wine Growers Association is in the process of preparing for the next Yarra Valley Wine Program, which will be held in 2013. “It’s all about showcasing the Yarra Valley and showing people that we’re one of the greatest wine regions,” Mr Howden said.
“Some of the guests have already stated they would very much like to attend in two years’ time.”
