MARYSVILLE-BASED landscape photographer Donovan Wilson has captured the essence of the Yarra Valley in his new book The Wild Heart of the Yarra Valley.
The author of the successful Marysville Moss Snow and Mountain Ash, published after the 2009 fires, has lived in the Dandenong Ranges and Upper Yarra over the years and was inspired to photograph some of the least-seen and most beautiful places across the region.
In the book Mr Wilson has tried to capture what he believes to be the true heart of the Yarra Valley which he says is for him a wild heart – a place of snow capped mountains, mist shrouded ridges and deep fern filled valleys.
His canvas is home to some of the tallest trees on the planet and a haven for many species of wildlife.
“I hope everyone will find the book inspiring and that it helps people to see the Yarra Valley in a new light and appreciate some of its hidden treasures,” Mr Donovan said.
The book is to be launched on Melbourne Cup Day at the Marysville Sparkling Wine Festival at 2pm.
There will also be an exhibition of Mr Donovan’s latest works and past favourites at Marysville Central daily from Saturday 29 October until Cup Day.
