SOME of rural Victoria’s finest cricketers will assemble in Ferntree Gully for a Victorian Country cricket trial match.
Players from all parts of the state will participate in a Twenty20 clash to assist in the selection of a 13 man squad to represent Victorian Country in the Australian Country Cricket Championships being held in Geelong on January 1-12.
The Vics will play a series of Twenty20, one day, and two day games against, NSW Country, QLD Country, SA Country, Northern Territory, WA Country, ACT and East Asia Pacific.
Local South East Regional players, Matthew Mulchay (FTGDCA) Andrew Devenish (FTGDCA), Sam Waters (FTGDCA), Mark Butters (FTGDCA), Simon Young (YVCA), Dwayne Doig (WGCA) and Wade Pelzer (MPCA) are hopeful of making the squad, with Doig and Mulchay representing Victoria last season in Western Australia.
The match will commence at 10.30am on Sunday 6 November at the Wally Tew Oval, located on Brenock Park Drive.
