A $42,300 grant will help Healesville Living and Learning students make the most of work experience opportunities.
Seymour MP Cindy McLeish announced the Capacity and Innovation Fund grant at the centre last week.
Ms McLeish said the grants had been designed to help Learn Local organisations to develop new programs to boost participation and learning.
Darren Grainger, Healesville Living and Learning Centre’s manager of education and training said the grant would fund a student support officer to work with students and businesses.
“Some students, not just young people, but mature-age students as well, who have to go out on placement are not fully aware of what it is about and so don’t get the full benefit of that on-the-job experience,” he said.
The support officer will work with students and businesses to increase and maximise that part of their course.
