YARRA Ranges Council is expanding its mowing program in response to recent rains that have caused increased grass growth, while roadside slashing is already underway.
While property owners maintain nature strips, the council is responsible for mowing roadsides at intersections and high traffic areas to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.
The council’s annual roadside slashing program is being carried out to reduce fire fuel loads and manage potential fire hazards on strategic road networks.
While the council is responsible for maintaining roadsides on urban roads and low-speed arterial roads, VicRoads is responsible for maintaining the 80km/h zones and rural sections on roadside reserves on the arterial roads.
