YELLINGBO student Morgan Bazzocco and friend Brooke Smith from Silvan aren’t afraid of a bit of hard work to fulfil their goal of visiting Vietnam and Cambodia next year as part of World Challenge.
The girls, 15, and students at Lilydale High School, have been doing the rounds of the hectic schedule of festivals around the Yarra Valley to raise the more than $6000 they will need to take part in what they see as the adventure of a lifetime.
The girl squeezed what must have seemed like a lifetime of lemons for their lemonade stall at the recent Yellingbo Festival at Camelot Castle, and were also at the Lilydale Show.
“We both want to experience other cultures and see the how other people live, as well as wanting to do something to help in those countries,” Morgan said.
Forty young people from years 9 and 10 at Lilydale High will be taking part in the trip which includes working at one of the local schools.
Morgan said they will be continuing their fund-raising for another year with the trip planned for November 2014.
“I’m very excited about going and we’re both really looking forward to getting over there and helping out,” she said.
