Fun day draws old mates

MORE than 100 players descended on the Warburton Golf Club for a very successful Australia Day weekend fun-comp – many previous members returning to renew old acquaintances.
This aspect of the day was the most pleasing, as members and ex-members spotted one another and found time to reminisce.
Although the results were secondary to the social impact of this type of day, there was a clear winning team.
Playing the popular Ambrose team event, there was always going to be a low score, but no one expected a team to finish 16 under the card!
That’s right, a clever team of four shot a 53 ‘off-the-stick’.
There were a couple of other great scores but the greenkeeper’s team of Paul Mason, Benny Chester, Wes Martin and Roger Jones were the lucky ones, although those who witnessed their stroke-making said it was just “hot golf” from the first to the last hole!
