THE stage is set for VoiceMob 2014.
VoiceMob leaders completed rehearsals last week for the 34 public workshops that will culminate in the all singing, all signing, all dancing, flash mob extravaganza across the Yarra Ranges from March through to June.
The leaders group ‘graduated’ from a master-class with choreographer Nick Pappas, deaf artist Medina Sumovic and project co-ordinator and musical director Santha Press at the Wandin Hall ready to inspire and empower people of all ages and abilities to sing, sign and dance as part of the project which will see flash mob events taking place in parks, at festivals, on footpaths… anywhere, in fact!
Santha encouraged people to get involved saying the songs and moves inspired by Auslan (Australian Sign Language) are beautiful, fun and fast to learn.
There are no auditions and no experience is needed, the songs and moves can be learned from the website, but participants can also go along to as few, or as many of the rehearsals and performances as they choose.
The first community rehearsal is at Yarra Glen Memorial Hall on Sunday 9 February from 1pm to 3pm.
