EASTERN Health has been recognised for excellence in staff development, service delivery and risk management in the 2014 Leadership in the Public Sector Awards.
Eastern Health runs Healesville, The Angliss, Maroondah and Box Hill hospitals, a well as Yarra Valley Community Health.
Run by the Institute of Public Administration Australia and open to government and community sector organisations delivering government services in Victoria, the awards were presented on Monday, 17 February by secretary of the Victorian Department of Premier and Cabinet, Andrew Tongue.
Eastern Health took out three of the seven categories.
The People Development Award for work done in building their organisational capacity, which included reducing staff turnover in a workforce of 8300 people by over a third in four years.
For making services more citizen-centric, they won the Service Delivery Award with their ‘In The Patient’s Shoes’ program which included improving staff training and developing better communication protocols.
Their Great Enterprise Risk Management project which ensured compliance with national standards won the Risk Management Award.
Mr Tongue congratulated the winners saying that the capabilities that had helped shaped their work were the sorts of capabilities that would be needed in all public servants in Victoria.
Eastern Health chief executive Alan Lilly said the organisation was delighted to receive three top honours and congratulated the staff involved in the programs.
