WHAT’S your plan for Healesville’s future?
Residents are being asked to come to a meeting at Healesville’s Memo Hall on Wednesday 26 March at 7pm for a community workshop on the future of the town.
The aim of the workshop will be to answer crucial questions about the town’s key assets, in order to develop the next phase of Healesville’s Structure Plan.
Yarra Ranges mayor Fiona McAllister said the meeting was a chance to talk about major themes, such as bushfire protection, local spaces and town expansion.
Cr McAllister said people didn’t need to have an opinion on every topic in the town, but could come along to talk about one or two things they were passionate about.
“Everyone has a view – they might not have a view on everything, (but) they might on some issues,” she said.
“It doesn’t matter if people feel they don’t know anything about planning.
“It’s about their feelings about Healesville – what they want to keep and what they want to change about the town.”
Topics at the meeting include town expansion, commercial centres, land for industry, protection of natural environment while minimising fire risk, services and facilities and housing options, among others.
The meeting will be held from 7pm-9.30pm at The Memo in Healesville on 235 Maroondah Highway, on Wednesday 26 March.
Bookings for the meeting can be made by calling Yarra Ranges Council’s Strategic Planning Team on 9294 6165 or by visiting www.yarraranges.vic.gov.au.
