Warning to drivers after highway crash

BY JODIE SYMONDS

TWO cars were in a collision at the intersection of Kooweerup Road and Maroondah Highway in Healesville, about 8.30am this morning.
Police were called when a Cobram woman driving a white Honda Civic turned right onto the highway into oncoming traffic.
Police said that despite attempts to swerve and avoid a crash, the driver of a black Holden hit the right side of her vehicle before veering into a ditch.
Neither person involved in the incident was injured.
Traffic was disrupted on the highway for a short while.
Senior Constable Matt Ward said sun glare could have been a factor in the incident.“There are a range of things that could have been factors but it is just an unfortunate incident,” he said.
Constable Adele Ormsby said drivers needed to be cautious along the Healesville-Kooweerup Road.
“We’ve had a few accidents along that road lately,” she said.
Police advise drivers to be careful at this time of the year when visibility can be decreased due to the weather.
