ALDI has announced it is coming to Healesville, with an application for a new supermarket set to be submitted to the Yarra Ranges Council next month.

On Friday, 25 September, an ALDI Australia spokesperson confirmed to the Mail that the supermarket chain was “eager” to come to town, and had purchased land.

The spokesperson said the chain had purchased the Healesville Building Supplies site on the corner of Maroondah Highway and Church Street.

“We expect to lodge a development application in October, with timelines for the construction and opening dependent on planning approvals,” the spokesperson said in a written statement.

The spokesperson said that an ALDI supermarket in Healesville would provide “15 to 20 jobs” in the community.

“ALDI prides itself on offering a working environment that provides a strong sense of career development and employee satisfaction,” they said.

On Thursday, 24 September, a Yarra Ranges Council spokesperson said the council had not yet received any planning applications for the site.
