POLICE are asking people to make sure intersections are clear before turning after two cars collided with a truck on the corner of Francis Crescent and Swansea Road in Lilydale Monday morning 12 October.
Police said it appeared the Volkswagen Golf and Holden Commodore crashed into each other and then into the truck during the school rush, just before 9am.
Each car had three occupants and the truck had one occupant – with the Volkswagen containing 6-year-old and 10-year-old passengers and the Commodore containing 13-year-old and 16-year-old passengers.
While there were no serious injuries caused on the scene, all occupants of the cars were taken to hospital for further checks.
Yarra Ranges Highway Patrol senior constable Aidan Williams said drivers needed to take care when crossing intersections across oncoming traffic.
“The message is just don’t cross the intersection until you know it’s clear,” he said.
“It’s very lucky no-one was seriously hurt here today and things could have easily been a lot worse.”
