A TRUCK driver has fallen victim to the notorious Melba Highway patch called The Slide, rolling his truck along the sodden highway earlier this month.
Yarra Glen Police Sergeant Richard Coulson said that, at 1.50pm on Thursday, 12 November, the driver of a small truck lost control on the Melba Highway in Dixons Creek.
Sgt Coulson said that a sudden downpour saw the driver lose control when coming around a right-hand corner on The Slide, a “notorious” section of the road that often sees crashes in bad weather.
He said the truck skidded off of the road, mounted an embankment and rolled onto its side.
Sgt Coulson said the driver had a “lucky escape” from the crash.
South-bound traffic was diverted for two hours on the highway, while heavy haulage machinery was called in to clear the truck from the scene.
