TWO people have been taken to Maroondah Hospital with minor injuries following a crash at Coldstream this morning
(Friday).
The female driver of a white ute turning right from the turning lane into Hill Road from Maroondah Highway was hit from behind at around 7.30am, causing extensive damage to the vehicle and trapping her.
SES volunteers freed the woman, a chef from Levantine Hill winery, who was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken by road ambulance to the hospital.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 4WD, was also treated at the scene and taken to hospital.
The driver of another car heading towards Melbourne was also caught up in the crash. Her car was clipped and unable to be driven but she was uninjured.
Senior Constable Michael Sartori said both vehicles were driving into the sun and that sun glare and lack of concentration could have been contributing factors.
He said the crash, in peak traffic on the highway, could have caused much more serious injuries.
His advice: “One hundred per cent concentration; don’t take your eyes off the road”.
