Visit Healesville Walk … you’ll be wrapped

LOCAL clubs, groups and organisations in rural areas build connections and enhance the social fabric of the community.
Healesville Walk supports and encourages local community initiatives and, as such, will launch The Great Christmas Gift Wrap on Saturday, 19 December, from 10am, supporting the Badger Creek and District Men’s Shed.
Shoppers can make a donation to have their gifts wrapped by volunteer ‘shedders’ and helpers from this worthy group.
The Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) is the peak body representing more than 930 Men’s Sheds and is recognised as one of Australia’s largest male based community development organisations.
AMSA recognises as a Men’s Shed any community-based, non-profit, non-commercial organisation that is accessible to all men and whose primary activity is the provision of a safe and friendly environment where men are able to work on meaningful projects.
Peter Broman from Badger Creek and District Men’s Shed said the local group had a rich history.
“It has its origins at the Living and Learning Centre in Healesville, but is a new shed for Badger Creek and district,” he said.
“We have 20 members and are currently setting up woodwork and metalwork areas, and hope for automotive in the future.
“We operate behind the Badger Creek Fire Brigade and work in partnership with the brigade.
“We also work in the local community and are part of the network of Men’s Sheds across Australia.”
With free tastings throughout the day and goodies to give away, be sure to bring your gifts or buy one.
