THERE’S snow on Mount Donna Buang and Parks Victoria is putting snow seekers on standby to grab the toboggans and head up the mountain over the weekend.
News from the mountain (www.facebook.com/WarburtonWaterwheel) has around 12 centimetres of snow on the summit and toboggan hire and hot food available today (Friday).
Parks Victoria Area Chief Range, Conrad Annal, said visitors needed to be prepared if venturing into snow territory.
“Mount Donna Buang is a spectacular place to be at any time of the year but as the snow begins to fall it transforms into a wonderful winter playground that draws people from all over Melbourne,” Mr Annal said.
Mount Donna Buang has three toboggan runs, a designated snow play area, barbecues, car parking, toilets and a scenic drive up to the summit.
Mr Annal said people should check the weather forecast on the Parks Victoria website for road closures and recommend carrying wheel chains for the drive up to the summit.
“The road conditions can change very quickly in alpine environments so it’s also really important to carry wheel chains for the drive up to the summit. Being prepared will help make sure that you, your family and friends all have a safe and enjoyable day.”
Visitors are advised to stop in Warburton for any last-minute items if needed before driving up to the summit.
