Stage one of the Yarra Valley Open Studios has been a huge success, whetting the appetite of artists, and lovers of art, across the valley.
The official opening of the major group exhibition at The Memo in Healesville on Friday, 8 September, provided a promising entre to a weekend of open studios along the Maroondah Highway.
Event organiser, Reggie Clark, said the feedback from participating artists was excellent.
“All the artists were really pleased with the visitors, sales were good and there were lots of contacts made for workshops.
“Artists are getting what they need out of Open Studios, which is more exposure,” she said.
The move to three weekends of open studios also worked well, with fewer studios to visit and in closer proximity, making for a more relaxed visitor experience.
The Melba Highway artists will open their doors on the weekend of 14 and 15 October with a lead-up exhibition at Coombe Yarra Valley in Coldstream from 13 to 31 October.
The Warburton Highway weekend is 11 and 12 November, with a feature exhibition at the Waterwheel Gallery in Warburton from 26 October to 14 November.
Yarra Valley Open Studios 2017 is a Yarra Valley Arts event supported by Yarra Ranges Council, Warburton/Yarra Junction Bendigo Community Bank and local businesses.
