Social cricket program ‘Social Sixes’ is teaching women basic cricket skills from 6-7pm on Tuesday nights until 12 December, thanks to a partnership between Cricket Victoria and Yarra Ranges Council.
Designed for women to learn cricket skills in an informal setting, the program will consist of four Tuesday evening sessions held at Lilydale’s Melba Park.
Yarra Ranges Council Director of Social and Economic Development Ali Wastie, says the cricket sessions will enable women to build their social skills while staying physically active.
“VicHealth has identified that regular physical activity helps people to have better mental health and social connections, along with more energy and health benefits,” Ms Wastie said.
All equipment is provided at the sessions, costing $10 per person.
