All eyes on solar tech lab

By Jed Lanyon

Healesville Community Renewable Energy Inc (CoRE) has organised a free practical workshop to introduce the community to the latest solar technology in local solar guru Glen Morris’ solar research centre.

This workshop is a unique opportunity to visit Mr Morris’ solar technical lab, research centre, workshop and training facility.

Visitors will experience a wide range of equipment in operation, learn how it works, how it’s installed and the benefits that can be derived from this and similar equipment.

Mr Morris has been installing renewable energy systems both on and off grid for over 20 years through his business SolarQuip.

Mr Morris is a consultant for the Smart Energy Council and is their representative on Standards Australia Committee on renewable energy standards.

He teaches renewable energy courses at his Smart Energy Lab and has been a renewable energy system auditor for both the Clean Energy Council and the New Zealand government.

Mr Morris has lived off-grid for much of the past 27 years.

The workshop is suitable for everyone interested in renewable energy and will be held on 14 September at 10.30am at 109 Moora Rd Mount Toolebewong.

Healesville CoRE is a community-initiated group established in 2017 that is working towards the goal of Healesville becoming a net-zero emissions township by 2027 and achieving greater energy independence so that residents gain from the flow-on health and cost benefits.
