Police are continuing their search in Warburton following the disappearance of 67 year old woman Susan Shaw.

The Warburton woman was last seen on Mount Donna Buang Road about 1.40am Friday 27 November.

She was wearing a green cardigan, jeans and bright pink short boots, although she may have removed her cardigan due to the warm weather.

Senior Sergeant Peter Muys spoke to the media today in Warburton and shared that up to 120 members and volunteers had joined the search party as well as air wing, search and rescue teams and the mounted branch.

“We’ve taken some time and made some effort to distribute missing persons posters in and around the main street to get the word out and we’ve tried to get out as much as we can on the social media side of things for the locals because they really do get together when this type of thing occurs.

“We are remaining optimistic. You take into account the weather hasn’t been extreme, we’ve had some fairly mild nights, so we believe it’s entirely possible Susan could be moving in and around the area. Obviously as time goes by the lack of water and food, if she does not have access to that, becomes an increasing concern

“Susan is an avid bird watcher and interestingly she was wearing pink gumboots which would be a fairly striking sign to anyone who might see or notice her.

“We’re appealing to any campers who might have been in the area because we’re aware there was a tent erected in the area and there was a bicycle near it, so we believe there was someone near where she was last seen.”

“We think she’d be capable of covering some distance because she’s reasonably fit and does know the area.”

Police and family have concerns for her welfare as her disappearance is out of character.

Investigators have released an image of Susan in the hope that someone can provide information on her current whereabouts.

Anyone who has seen Susan or with any information is requested to contact Warburton Police Station on 5966 2006.
